Sales Manager - Flatbed and Over-Dimensional Services is responsible for strategically leading and motivating a sales team to increase revenue within the open deck transportation mode of the logistics industry, training and coaching them to exceed monthly sales quotas, to prospect and generate leads, build client relationships and meet customer needs. This position is also responsible for assisting the Director of Sales in developing the company’s sales and marketing strategy, setting sales goals and quotas, tracking sales performance metrics and reporting data on a daily basis to the Director of Sales.

Summary of Sales Manager - Flatbed and Over-Dimensional Services responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead, control and develop a team of Account Executives to ensure that a high professional standard is achieved and monthly sales target and KPI targets are met
  • Manage, train, coach and motivate the sales team to meet their sales goals, prospect and generate leads, build client relationships and meet customers’ needs
  • Provide on-the-ground support for sales team as they generate leads and close new deals
  • Hold team members accountable to lead and lag measure goals, including but not limited to number of customer conversations, loads secured, margin per shipment, overall gross profitability and overall customer satisfaction
  • Hold your team accountable to operational and process expectations of the organization
  • Deliver clear expectations in regards to the role and direction of your team
  • Promote and instill a positive work environment that is challenging and engaging
  • Proactively address concerns, conflicts, and interactions with team members
  • Responsible for the presentation of and implementation of our sales training program
  • Generate new business and meet revenue goals while improving gross margins and profitability
  • Manage existing business accounts and continuously build customer rapport
  • Assist Sales Director in creating and driving a business sales and marketing strategy that successfully meets sales goals and quotas
  • Assist Sales Director in creating a sales process to meet sales goals
  • Convey and report branch and individual sales performance metrics and account activity back to Sales Director and other key organizational leaders daily
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the company's specialty services, internal resources, competitive strategies, and customer requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or similar field of study with emphasis in: International Business, Logistics/Supply Chain, Marketing or Sales preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role leading a high-performing sales teams
  • Prefer experience in open deck modes: flatbed, oversized loads, and over-dimensional loads
  • Previous CRM and freight management software experience; McLeod a plus
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and cultivate relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and complex environment while making timely decisions under pressure
  • Ability to train, mentor, motivate and develop a team of employees to build relationships and effectively present a full range of services to customers, empowering them to build a complete logistics and supply chain solution
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and inter-personal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with people in all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • 3+ years’ working knowledge in logistics and transportation industry; including third-party full truckload logistics management, supply chain, tradeshow set-up, and final mile
  • Visionary leader with the ability to use their knowledge, skills and influence to guide and inspire others to reach their potential and achieve individual, team and company sales goals and objectives
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service
